Many women suffer from large or thick labial and need to change the size and shape of their labia. Some women are born with larger than average genitalia; others experience changes due to childbirth and aging, as hormones and time can enlarge the labia. Large labia can be a problem during certain sports such as bike riding or horse riding or wearing tight-fitted clothing. There may be some medical reasons why women want to get labia surgery.
Procedure:
The surgeon has to cut away labia tissue to make the desired shape female genital. Normally the surgery will take one to two hours. This surgery performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia that may be combined with sedative chemical.
This is outpatient procedure and the patients return to home after the surgery.
Recovery:
The pain can be relieved with oral pain medications. Absorbable sutures dissolve 7 to 10 days. Most patients can return to normal activity in one week and return to sexual activity within a few weeks. Surgeon will give specific instructions on how to care.
