Fissure

An anal fissure is a tear in the skin of the anal canal. Most anal fissures arise following injury to the anus. The commonest trauma is that occasioned by constipated. However, anal fissures can occur following bouts of diarrhea, childbirth etc. Surgery may be needed if they don't heal. Pain and bleeding are common symptom, especially when the fissure first develops. Sometimes a swollen skin tag or lump develops at the external end of the fissure.

Procedure:
 This surgery performed under general anesthesia. This is outpatient procedure and the patients return to home after the surgery. There are several conservative treatment options for fissure. Afterwards, a pad dressing will be put into anus to help stop bleeding.


Recovery:
After an operation to repair an anal fissure, patients are likely to feel sore for a number of days.
Analgesic is prescribed relief. The recovery time for anal fissure surgery varies but usually is one week. Surgeon will give specific instructions on how to care.
