Scar Revision

A scar is formed signs that remain after a wound has healed. It is the unavoidable results of injury or surgery, and their development can be unpredictable. Scars may be formed for many different factors, including as a result of infections, one's age, the direction of the wound, the type of injury, the skin type and location of the trauma and nutritional status. Scars may appear anywhere on the body, and the composition of a scar may vary appearing flat, lumpy, sunken, colored, painful, or itchy.
Scar revision surgery is plastic surgery performed to improve the condition or appearance of a scar anywhere on body. The revision may improve the appearance of the scar or restore function to a part of the body that may have been restricted by the scar. It is important to remember that scars cannot be removed completely.

Procedure:
Some scar revision procedures can be performed under local anesthetic or intravenous sedation and are relatively non-invasive. Surgical scar revision will vary depending on the size of the scar, but revision techniques may include repositioning the scar, removing bulk, or simply refining the incision to produce a smaller scar. Dissolving or traditional sutures will be used. This is outpatient procedure and the patients return to home after the surgery.

Recovery:
Depending on the kind of surgery, patients may need to devote several days to recovery. During initial recovery, painkillers can be used to control pain. This process takes several months,  some scars taking more than a year to show improvement in appearance following surgery.it is important to follow all instructions to help maximize recovery and healing. Surgeon will advise on all activity restrictions and will give specific instructions on how to care.
