Otoplasty surgery or cosmetic ear surgery improve the appearance, shape and dimensions of the ears and make ears look normal and well proportionate and to correct prominent ears. This surgery does not affect one’s hearing abilities.
Procedure:
During surgery, incisions are made behind the ear. The ear cartilage is incised and pinned behind then it is less prominent. Additionally, the cartilage may be reshaped using stitches only.
The procedure lasts from 1 to 2 hours. Ear surgery performed under local anesthesia and intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. This is outpatient procedure and the patients return to home after the surgery.
Recovery:
Swelling, bruising and pain of the ears may occur. The pain can be relieved with analgesic, antibiotic prescribed to prevent infection.
Bandages are placed post-surgery and will be removed on the few days. After removing bandages, changes of ears are appearing and these are permanent. Surgeon will give s
